August 17, 2026What if your company could receive funding to hire new employees, create jobs, train your workforce, upskill your team or improve your physical infrastructure, often at little to no cost?
The truth is, there are countless grants, incentives, and workforce development programs available to businesses, yet many go untouched every year. Some organizations simply don’t know these resources exist. Others assume the application process is too complicated or believe there must be a catch.
The good news? There isn’t.
The purpose of these programs is simple: to help businesses offset the costs of recruiting talent, developing employees, and investing in growth. And with hiring, training, and infrastructure expenses continuing to rise, these resources can make a significant financial impact.
Opportunities exist at the city, county, and state levels—and in many cases, businesses can leverage programs from all three. Whether you’re a startup, nonprofit, manufacturer, or established company, there’s likely a program designed to support your goals.
Every state has an economic development agency that administers these incentives, though the names may vary—from Workforce Development and Small Business Services to Community & Economic Development. Regardless of the title, the mission remains the same: helping businesses grow and succeed.
While every program is a little different, most opportunities fall into one of five key categories:
✅ New Job Creation
Funding designed to help companies create new positions, drive economic growth, and connect workers with in-demand career opportunities.
✅ On-the-Job Training (OJT)
Hire great talent and receive financial support while employees learn the skills needed to succeed in their new roles.
✅ Registered Apprenticeships
Build your future workforce through paid, hands-on training combined with classroom instruction. Employers gain highly skilled employees, and apprentices earn competitive wages while avoiding significant student debt.
✅ Upskilling & Incumbent Worker Training (IWT)
Train your existing employees on the topics that matter most to your business. These programs often allow you to choose the training provider, delivery method, and curriculum
—whether for compliance requirements or professional development.
✅ Infrastructure Improvement
Planning an expansion, facility upgrade, or capital investment? Grants may be available to support projects that create jobs and improve productivity.
$ So exactly how much could a company be reimbursed? $
Since the state and local sponsored grant and incentive programs vary, below are just a few examples of what is available:
WedNet PA can provide up to $2,000 per year per employee for training in PA up to a maximum of $100,000.
Delaware Workforce Training Grants can provide reimbursement for up to 50% of eligible training expenses to a maximum of $100,000.
New Jersey eligible companies may be reimbursed up to 50% of a new hire’s salary
up to $200,000 per employer per contract.
YES . . . these are real programs and real dollar figures!
